Together with colleagues Luigi Amedeo Bianchi and Stefano Bonaccorsi, both from the University of Trento, and Martin Friesen (Dublin City University, formerly Wuppertal), IMACM member Barbara Rüdiger organized this winter school. It was funded by the Italian Dipartimento di Eccellenza project.

On October 4, some PhD students and postdocs of the IMACM-Juniors made a trip to the Deutsches Museum in Bonn. There, the exhibition "Mission-KI" illustrated the basic principles of AI technologies such as neural networks and presented them in interactive demonstrations. In addition, the excursion lent itself to scientific and personal exchange among the IMACM-Juniors.

Since September 2022, Thomas Kruse is the new professor for Uncertainty Quantification and Risk Analysis. He strengthens IMACM as an expert in Monte Carlo methods, financial mathematics, stochastic analysis, stochastic control theory and machine learning.

FOR 5269 is a DFG funded Reserach Unit on computing quark propagation in a gluon background. The project involves physicists and mathematicians who join forces to obtain progress in numerical and stochastic algorithms which is mandatory for future simulations in theoretical particle physics, in particular, for glueballs.

On the occasion of its 50th birthday, the University of Wuppertal opened its doors on May 21. Young and old were invited to participate in exciting experiments, to experience interesting research and to take a diverse look behind the scenes. The IMACM participated with contributions from stochastics, optimization and AI.

Dr. Joch Glück is the new Junior-Professor for analysis of differential equations at the school of mathematics and natural sciences at Bergische Universität Wuppertal. The research of Jochen Glück includes the analysis of time dependent differential equations and in particular the long time behavior of solutions.
